GoodRx Joins The Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies
WASHINGTON, DC (June 16, 2017) – GoodRx, which has saved Americans $3 billion on their prescription medicines since 2011, has joined the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP Global).
Up to 45% of Americans struggle with paying for their prescription medicines, 26% don’t fill prescriptions because they can’t afford them, and medication nonadherence costs the U.S. healthcare system up to $289 billion a year.
“As people increasingly look for ways to save money on their prescription medicines, it is vital that we continue to educate patients and caregivers about how to find safe sources of medicine whether sold online or offline, and GoodRx’s membership helps us achieve that goal,” said ASOP Global’s Executive Director Libby Baney.
GoodRx provides the lowest current prices and discounts for every FDA-approved prescription drug at more than 70,000 retail and mail-order pharmacies to bring customers up to 80% savings on their prescriptions. On average, customers save $276 per year on their prescriptions using the free GoodRx website or GoodRx mobile apps.

A report issued in 2016 by ASOP Global and LegitScript found that 65% of Internet search results for prescription drugs lead U.S. consumers to illegal and unsafe websites and 600 new Internet pharmacy websites are launched every month.
To stay safe, ASOP Global urges all consumers to verify their online pharmacy before they buy, or look for .pharmacy in the URL, (i.e., www.GoodRx.pharmacy), since all websites ending in .pharmacy are verified by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).
