ASOP Global Names New Board of Directors Members

WASHINGTON, DC (January 24, 2020) – ASOP Global has named three new members to its board of directors, including former U.S. Food and Drug Administration compliance and policy official Dr. Ilisa Bernstein. Bernstein, a senior vice president at the American Pharmacist Association (APhA), brings more than 30 years of experience in drug quality, drug safety and supply chain security to the board. Bernstein is joined by Keith Jacobs, president of RefillWise and Carrie Harney, senior director of policy and advocacy at U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP).

As president of RefillWise and Luscinia Health, Jacobs works to help Americans safely save money on prescription drugs and will provide a unique perspective on drug pricing and access. Harney brings USP’s rigorous standards on drug quality and safety to the board, with more than 10 years’ experience in the food and drug industry, now helping to lead the organization’s efforts to promote public health and patient safety within the pharmaceutical and supplement industries.

Bernstein, a pharmacist and lawyer by training, led online pharmacy policies at FDA for nearly 20 years and played an integral role in the implementation of the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), which was enacted in 2013 to enhance the security of the drug supply chain and protect consumers from unsafe drugs.

“The ASOP Global Board will greatly benefit from the expert strategic guidance our new members will provide,” said Libby Baney, Senior Advisor to ASOP Global and partner at Faegre Baker Daniels. “Dr. Bernstein’s experience with the DSCSA, drug safety and the online market for drugs is unparalleled, and Keith and Carrie bring valuable expertise in drug affordability and quality.”

ASOP Global Board of Directors provide strategic direction for all of the nonprofit’s activities.
